So if one is to look at the projections for the memory market, it needs to be cut in half for SDRAM since the price drop from spring has been almost 50%.

To what extent is the drop in memory prices related to the October 1999 earthquake in Taiwan? As I recall, production capacity dropped and memory prices climbed right after that quake. A spring drop in memory prices would be consistent with rebuilt production capacity coming online.
