I maintain a core holding of 22 equities. These are largely tech and pharmaceutical companies. My problem is when a stock splits, then splits again, the number of shares grows large. When one of these stocks takes a major hit then it really hurts. I also diversify into stocks that I would trade if they make a significant gain.
The problem is the difficulty in being abreast of what is going on with all these stocks. If one has only a few stocks its easy to follow the news and the charts.

I am back in EMC in a big way as of last week. Network storage companies along with eBusiness software vendors should do reasonably well next year, relative to the box makers, semis and other capital intensive issues.

I had pondered over picking up SUNW, but backed off at the advice of many that SUN has a few wrinkles to iron out and might not have the upward thrust for awhile.

Here is to a better 2001: my glass is raised.
