"Please help me understand the interest in these high capacity cards."

Aus,

This isn't rocket science. 16 or 32MB CF cards just doesn't hack it for 2 or 3 MEGAPIXEL cameras. I haven't used my 16 MB card since I got my 128 MB card for my Nikon 990. Not just for taking large TIFFS but also for taking rapid sequence picts or movies. I can't imagine using my camera without the larger card. Also you can get more pics on one 128 meg card than 2 64 meg cards.

2 and 3 Megapixel cameras are selling like hotcakes. What is there not to understand about the demand for the larger cards? How could it be any other way?

Hope you all had a great Christmas and best for the New Year.

Off Topic,

A little help from those that are not tech challenged,

In the post-Christmas bargain shopping spirit, I'm planing on buying a CD burner. My only uses for this now is to move my many MP3 files off my hard disk for storage, and also to make CD's that can be played on the stereo systems scattered around my life.

The questions:

I understand that you can't play an MP3 file on a regular stereo, and need to convert them to .wav (?) files. Is this easy?

Is it worth the extra dollars to buy a re-writeable CD and the disks, or should I stick with the write only?

As with any tech purchase, it seems like you should always go with the max. functions, because you can't foresee what you might want to do with the thing in the future. Any expert advice will be greatly appreciated. TIA...

John

Have you tracked the sales of SanDisk memory on ebay?

I am selling one that is quickly approaching retail value.

Don't forget to click on the "About Me" button. ;)

I appreciate your thought process, and your ability to think and present rational arguments, especially when most folks just blab. Most are scared stiff with even the simplest questions; I asked one lady here to present here reasons for owning SNDK- and I believe she ran for cover. ;) The old Pareto Principle in action again; as my old man used to say, the masses are asses.

Peace,
