No doubt when they sold the FTRs they must have been thinking they understood the market and were getting a good deal. Although SCE is not technically a governmental entity, it'd be pretty hard to make an accusation stick that they were businessmen really. In fact, whenever I deal with 95% of employees of any business, all I see are bureaucrats, not business folks. JMHO, of course. Yesterday between unwrapping presents, visiting relatives, talking on the phone and eating a Christmas turkey dinner, I did manage to channel surf a wee bit and saw part of what looked like a longer program on energy on CNBC with Tyler M interviewing a couple of energy guys.*** Later in the day Paula Zahn (on Fox, looking great as always but a little bit cheerleaderish, or perhaps that smile a little bit of a ballroom dancer's smile?) was interviewing sagging jowled Bill Richardson about energy. Why is it I get the feeling Richardson must have something juicy on the Clintons? I mean, how did this guy get a job doing anything at all? His knowledge of energy is pretty shallow; he seems to have arrived at his job a year or so ago, identified the smartest guy in the office and said, "Tell me the five important things I need to know about energy." After that they never spoke again. In any event, I wonder if anyone was able to watch anymore of the CNBC thing than I was and tell us if anything interesting transpired. What is interesting, and is perhaps the point of this long intro, is the fact that on Christmas Day two of the cable channels were devoting time not to tech or retailing or housing starts or employment/unemployment, but to energy and picking energy stocks. With this level of consciousness rising, we must be about midway into this boom? ____ *** Actually I saw 3 different informercials about abdomen exercisers as well. The most impressive one was the Abdolly, designed to put you into the exact physical position of, and give you all the benefits of, scrubbing floors on your hands and knees. By the look of the blonde supermodel in spandex with a "twelve pack" running up and down her obliques, the good news is it must really work. The bad news is you don't seem to get cleaner floors for all your trouble.
