Got it.

That was actually something I was somewhat involved with
last year. Working with HS students online from back east,
I was shocked at the time to learn that the US CS
curriculum was established defacto by the US Dept
of Ed AP testing policy and what they tested was C++, which
meant that was what was taught in the high schools. The
better choice of course, was something more practical (and
better) like Java, or something that at least taught better
programming skills like Python (which I've been
teaching to myself lately).

That Java is moving in wholesale (and that's how it'll
work) to replace C++ is a *huge win for Java mindshare. A
best case from our perspective; a big deal. That's
something to be jazzed about on several levels. The HS
instructors just last year weren't optomistitic that the
wheels of govt could turn fast enough to replace the C++
thing in any timeframe considered as 'soon'. This is really
great. A *major* win.
