My broker is Trading Direct in NYC. Recently I specifically asked this: I buy on margin in the morning, sell at break even in the afternoon. How much buying power do I now have? Their answer: The same amount you started the day with.

I've only done this a couple of times, but never had a problem (or at least never was aware of one).
