I was wondering why there is confusion on this, I double checked in a recent 1040 instructions and confirmed that the trade date is the date of record for tax purposes.

I don't understand why professionals have different requirements, but I have never looked at those tax instructions.

i just called my clearing house, and they said 29(friday) is last day to place trades for tax selling for individuals.

donald..i've been told it doesn't matter. if you sell it on last day you sold it. no? someone should make certain cuz brokers are sometimes the worst ones to get accurate info.
