Wayne, Yeah. We all have a conscience. Some are more aware of it than others, and awareness of it varies in the same individual over time and with changing conditions and circumstances. Some have effectively uncoupled themselves from it, for all practical purposes. Much to their own detriment, of course, and the detriment of those around them also. In my own case, it seems to be a rather dynamic relationship, swinging alternately from overbought to oversold conditions! <ggggggggggggggg> But still, make no mistake: of all the human emotions, there is one which is absolutely intolerable, which causes people to blow their brains out rather than experience it. Or manufacture whatever delusion is necessary, regardless of how unreasonable and irrational, just as long as it works. And that is intense, prolonged guilt. Nobody lives with that. <<....they make the decision to do it anyway because of flaws in their own values. >> Yeah. Not so sure it's because of flaws, in the sense that this implies that it can always be avoided by some insight and/or act of will. But the victim and the perpetrator of that con are one and the same. In the long run, you get the results of what you do, not what somebody else does. So, I'd rather concern myself with the ethics and morality of what I do. I'm no saint, even my mother will testify to that..... been thrown out of a church or two in my time also! (uh, well no, they haven't asked me back yet) But it's just my self interest, you see, that compels me to concern myself more with what I do, less with what they do.....<gg> Cheers, Walkingshadow
