Yes, but Dave, electricity is a commodity, isn't it?

And wasn't it regulation and standardization that reduced (or elevated, depending on your POV) electricity to a known quantity, distributable everywhere on a continental grid?

'Bandwidth' is not a commodity, or not yet. Perhaps I've misunderstood, but research suggests that much 'bandwidth' is not usable by many customers who want 'more bandwidth'.

QoS seems to be a major problem in this area.
