Cray Inc. Names President, CEO Rottsolk Chairman
26 Dec 2000
Cray Inc. named President and Chief Executive James E. Rottsolk chairman, replacing Terren S. Peizer, who remains a director. In a press release, the Seattle supercomputer company said Mr. Peizer, as chairman, would have been required to have a security clearance from the Department of Defense in order for Cray to transfer its government classified business from Silicon Graphics Inc. by the end of the 2000. Cray didn't expect the clearance process to be completed before late 2001. If the transfer of the government classified business wasn't completed this year, Cray would have been required pay "significant" penalties to Silicon Graphics. In April, ERA Computer CO. acquired Silicon Graphics' Cray vector supercomputer unit for $15 million cash, 1 million unregistered common shares and a $36.3 million promissory note. ERA changed its named to Cray.
