I like Yeats, Pound, and Eliot. Poets relating to our day that I like are Octavio Paz, Gerald Stern, Kenneth Rexroth, and Delmore Schwartz.

Speaking of poets, were any of James Agee's poems included in the Walker Evans exhibit?

I forgot to mention Charles Bukowski.

OK, maybe he's not really a poet, but he's fun.

Why are Latin poets and novelists so obtuse? I tried reading Mario Vargas Llosa a few years ago and I found him confounding. So many writers seem to take delight in being obscure and dense.

I love Latin music, though. Manuel Ponce and Joaquin Rodrigo are two of my favorite composers.
