only a 1% problem so far. i wonder what happens to Japanese bank capital adequacy now? as far as i know, their equity capital is insufficient at a Nikkei below 15K. no wonder their govt. promises to intervene. they all think they can pull off the 'trick' of the Honk Kong govt. in '98. i think however that that intervention was unnecessary - their market would have righted itself without it. now the bad example is emulated all over Asia, with good money being thrown after bad...but what the heck, it's only the sheep's (tax payers) money.
