You are in a sense correct. Election night data showed 43% Clinton. Bush 35%, Perot 7% and Buchanan 4% ect.
Both Buchanan and Perot took votes away from conservatives.

I.E. the conservative voice was split into 3 or so different sanctions while Bubba was granted all of the liberal votes, won the White House with fewer than 50% of the national vote or NO MAJORITY.

Feel free to attack my math.
