jlallen, You could take this idea one step further as a substitute for capital punishment. (I am not opposed to capital punishment, but I think there is another way to fix the problem.) Instead of putting people to death, why not take them to a remote deserted island and release them into the wild. They would be lucky to survive anyway. This fix would remove them from civilized society forever whether they survived or not. Plus, it would be much cheaper for the taxpayer. Would this be considered cruel and unusual punishment?
