I think it's somewhat ironic that if you graph the quality of posts on this thread, it follows the stock graph pretty closely over the past year or so. We had a long run of high-quality technical and financial posts early in the year (mixed in with the usual endearing craziness). As the election approached, we had nothing but political BS. Then, the bears prove right, the Nasdaq drops 50%, Sun drops 50%, a lot of other stocks drop 90%, and there's a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Now we've sort of hit bottom, with some huge percentage of the posts concerning wine and gas pumps, some of them in Italian. In the old days someone would have said, "If you want to talk about wine and gas pumps in italian, start your own f*cking thread, it's downright rude and obnoxious"...but now not enough interest here to even do that.

Since I don't expect SI to last the year, it's actually somewhat fitting. It does reflect the end of Sun's glory days as a leadership stock, unfortunately.

Regards and Happy New Year to all,

Tax selling will not end until December 29, 2000 since it is the last trading day of the year. It goes by the trade date for tax purposes. Also remember that those who took losses for tax purposes, lose the tax deduction if they buy the same security back within 30 days (wash sale rule). Also you can designate the sale verses purchase. If you do not, it defaults to first in, first out (FIFO).

Good luck. I look for some movement in the stock by the end of January to mid February because of the reasons above.
