The mushrooms don't need to stay in that long.
As I said, I like to add things like that closer to
the end. They taste better to me if they're sauteed
alone first and then just heated through with the rice.

Some recipes call for using the mushroom liquid in place of some of the chicken broth for a more intense flavor. (This assumes you're re-constituting the dried mushrooms)
