To heck with making phone calls. Just become temp employees and learn by being there:
_________

08-Dec-00 13:28 ET
Amazon.com (AMZN) 22 15/16 +1 9/16 (+7.3%): CS First Boston positive on AMZN after sending several staffers in to work undercover as temporary laborers at Amazon's Delaware distribution center. Believes that activity levels at this center (which appears to account for about 20%-25% of company's U.S. unit volume) suggests that company is likely to meet or exceed firm's $1 bln revenue est. for the Dec. qtr. Says AMZN appears to be executing on its near-term and long-term financial and operating goals. Firm reiterates BUY rating

I thought the lead times were reported by JDSU's customers, not the company.

The source of all true rumors is obtained by making phone calls to low level employees not senior management. Happens all the time.

Mine aren't necessarily low-level, and everything I've heard is positive. "Made the quarter. . . good visibility. . . can't crank out modulators and drivers fast enough (UK). . ." and so on.

If some pipsqueak analyst wants to misread the meaning of shortened lead times, let him. When the availability in one product loosens up, you have to ask if there's a more advanced product taking its place. Seems pretty elementary.
