Unterberg Will End CoverageOf E-Tailing Firms by Analysts

In yet another sign that the Internet bubble has burst, Wall Street brokerage firm C.E. Unterberg Towbin Co. told employees this week that it plans to end analyst coverage of
e-commerce companies on Jan. 1, according to an executive at the New York firm.

"We are no longer covering e-commerce firms at the beginning
of the year," said Robert Abrams, head of compliance for C.E. Unterberg, in an interview. An e-mail message was sent to C.E. Unterberg's 200 employees on Tuesday from Unterberg's head of research, Lee Tawes, who wasn't available for comment.

C.E. Unterberg will stop coverage of big-name e-tailers such as Amazon.com Inc. and eBay Inc. Mr. Abrams said he wouldn't comment on the move, because it was a research-department decision.
