Bill Clinton had to find a demon to exorcise, and it turned out to be the "other Bill," THE Bill who we really have to thank for the economic boom and increased productivity over the past 10 years. It became a personal question of which "Bill" would be remembered in connection with the '90's -- Clinton or Gates, and Clinton sicked his injustice dogs and all their resources on Gates, acting on behalf of private interests like himself and his legacy, as well as envious egomaniacs like Ellison, to paint Gates for posterity as the devil himself.

Even Gates couldn't stand up against the unbelievable power of the federal government (so far -- wait for the appeal). It helped to have a judge who didn't know what the he** was going on, a judge who has his own large ego problem and who already had his a** kicked once by the Court of Appeals when he improperly ruled against MSFT.
