The WSJ's "Marketplace" section this morning has six separate articles trashing technology. Including Mossberg's Personal Technology column titled "Slump in Tech Sales Signals a Transition To a Post-PC World".

The current slowdown is about three months old, after blistering growth the previous 12 months, and substantial and steady growth for the last ten years. But the business press has decided this is the end of an era.

Could they be more short sighted?

John

Mary - Re: :"If anyone knows a more convenient way to guard against computer viruses, please let us all know. "

What Virus Protection software do you use?

I have been using Norton AntiVirus 2000 for over a year - and it has an option (one of many) to scan ALL incoming e-mail as it arrives from an e-mail Server.

It has flagged 2 or 3 virus-containing e-mails I received in the past year.

Updates - to keep current on the latest Virus definitions - are particularly easy with Norton AntiVirus 2000, with downloads via the Internet.

Mary & Thread,
Re:If anyone knows a more convenient way to guard against computer viruses, please let us all know.

If you use the Autoprotect feature of Norton Antivirus, it'll autoscan incoming email and downloads. Keep the virus defs up to date with the Live Update.

Gary

Yes, I do work for Symantec, but in the Mac group for Norton Utilities.
