Rande Is: There are many cross-currents for January 2001, namely: large amount of cash on the sidelines, earnings warnings during first two weeks, impending Fed rate cuts, dismal reports from retailers for Xmas 2000. Please reiterate what you see happening in January. Do you still think the first week will be a NASDAQ downdraft? If so, would you view this as a buying opportunity for the strongest tech names, or would you be steering clear of tech during the first half of 2001?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
