"It looks like my 'first page' slowdown hits you on nearly every page. "

Correct. This is inherent in the software. A useful mod for them would be to allow more user programming, for example to let the user pick ten threads to prefetch with ten pages to be loaded on each thread. But the overall concept is still a problem to program. Example: I programmed it to prefetch pages by a certain poster. But I don't know if it only loaded new posts by that poster or if it attempted to load every post by that poster on a thread. Actually, Naviscope had me itching to break open its code and start programming <g> which would be a laugh since it has been thirty years since I wrote any code. So I'll leave that to the folks who like to sit there round the clock and drink lots of Cokes while writing code <g>.

The future in speedy loading is faster connectivity. For those of us who have been deprived of this due to lack of proximity to dsl or cable, satellite data connections will soon be here. Satellite has a few drawbacks but some of the pluses are widespread access and high speed capacity. I have Directv right now and I am just itching for them to roll out data access in my area. When I had dsl (before I moved to a more remote area) dl speed was a nonissue.

Hey, if you get the Naviscope tweaks figured out, be sure to post them. I'd love to see the solutions.

best,

Rick
