I've been thinking about that strategy. There still are gains out there to be locked in I'm sure and it remains to be seen how that plays out. I think your friend may be the exception though.

could well be. note, the january effect is being touted heavily on CNBS. that's a strong sign it will disappoint.

I was thinking the same thing. I have some winners in the oil patch that I'm planning to dump on Tuesday, seems like the same could be true for the Buy and Hold crowd that doesn't like what they see down the road for next year. We may get some selling in pharma/bionutz/energy issues starting next week. (of course, the January effect buying has already started in the insane Clown Posse stocks like JNPR, BRCD, ITWO, etc.)
