PVN settles for $105 million? Must be bullish for 'em!<NG>

biz.yahoo.com

Anticipating required court approval of the settlement, the Company will take a one time, after-tax charge of approximately $22 million, or $0.07 per share, to its fourth quarter earnings. The charge reflects the estimated cost of the settlement, exclusive of amounts previously reserved by the Company. Providian estimates the total value of the settlement at approximately $105 million, including attorneys fees and restitution in the form of cash and in-kind payments. Net of the one-time charge, the Company estimates its fourth quarter earnings between $0.71 and $0.73 per share, consistent with earnings guidance announced in the 3rd quarter of this year, adjusted for the recent two-for-one stock split. The settlement principally involves issues about the marketing and sales of the Company's add-on products.

nothing's 100% certain, but the bonds did this year what the last did in '98: they ignored a sell signal. that means there should be still more oomph left in them.

Greenboink is printing incredible amounts of money lately...really, this is beginning to look like third world practices. and the mufus are chasing anything that's green, to make their year end statements look good...no-one is asking about fundamentals. the mania ain't dead yet.
