I thought her life was extremely sad; it's one of the few times on hearing someone I knew only semi-well had died that I really cried. And felt angry at a religion that trussed her up like that.
All she had was her very domineering and bitchy parents, and their church.

BUT= moving on- I was in the kitchen cooking (surprise!) and listening to a talk show and the host said there was a story about some mother in Illinois (I think) who had her child taken by the courts because she was still breastfeeding him at the age of 6.
They said it was sexual abuse.
I am stunned at this-- that they would do something so incredibly damaging and drastic to a child. Why not just work with her in the home toward weaning, or whatever. They said that the child told a babysitter that he wanted to stop and his mother wouldn't let him.
I guess I'll go look for the story online.
Becuase my first reaction was horror that this could or would be done.
WHere is CGB when you need her. She would love this story.
