Bush reported close to Surgeon General nomination...

Dec. 28, 2000-Washington, D.C.

At a press conference today, President Elect Bush stated that he was very close to a decision about a new Surgeon General. Mr. Bush said that he was down to two candidates: Dr. Kildare and Marcus Welby, M.D.

Said Mr. Bush, "I grew up trusting both of these doctors and think they are both really qualified for the job". Mr. Bush went on to say that the only issue holding up a final decision was that his staff had not been able to locate either "man".
