Just finished reading the articles-- ridiculous. I am furious, if that is all they had to remove that child-breast-feeding and co-sleeping.

The damage done to that boy by removing him from his home was far greater than breastfeeding.
That is pure cultural crap.
ANd the co-sleeping. Remember the big discussion we had about these topics with CGB, who was a big family bed advocate?

BUt of course, we Americans know what is best for everyone.

What is WITH
people- have they no sense of proportion? Apparently not.

Not people, at least in this case. Social workers. As a lawyer working primarily in family law I know well the mentality of many social workers. This case doesn't surprise me; the State, through its social agencies, assumes the right to decide how you should raise your child. It's amazing what they will sometimes term abuse.

Equally amazing what at other times they will refuse to term abuse. Such as the woman who returned to live with a man after he spent four years in jail for sexually abusing her 5 year old son -- the mother took the son, then aged 9, to live with her in the man's home. The social service people wouldn't do a thing; no proof of physical abuse. Grandmother had to go to court (father dead) to take the nearly hysterical child away from the molestor's home.

But generally they can do terrible things to children and families. The Wenatchee case is just an example. Then there is the Buckey day care case -- don't get me off on this stuff. Not good for my heart condition.
