<<Yah, you and the folks who knock on doors handing out tracts think Christmas trees are what Jeremiah was dissing. But no one today is worshipping their Christmas tree, unlike the pagans Jeremiah was writing about six hundred years before >>

Blah blah. I need to start picking some up to sink for crappie habitat. 3 trees per cinder block, not 4 as last year. Last year the water was open now, this year it has 6" of ice.

.,i> But no one today is worshipping their Christmas tree

You haven't seen the way Tesh and Myers behave around ours.
They adore it. I bought some special treats for them today to take their minds off the loss this weekend when the tree goes away. They'll be heartbroken for the five minutes their tiny minds remember it was ever there at all.

Myers did a terrible thing and is in disgrace. We have a large fireplace that opens into both the den and the living room. The glass doors are always shut when it's not burning because of the heatloss. Apparently last night someone forgot to close the den side and since there was no fire, Myers went in to explore. It looks as if he also took a nap on the logs and did a lot of rolling around.

He is covered- head to foot- in greasy black ash and it doesn't come off. He looks like a chimney sweep. We expect him to break into "Chim-chim-cheree" any minute. I tried washing him with soap and warm water but it just made it worse. I guess it will wear off? He can tell something is wrong-- maybe his fur tastes funny, because he'll start to wash himself and get this weird look on his face- like he bit into a lemon. It's way too cold to put him out so I guess I'll just have to have the furniture cleaned this spring.
Meanwhile no one will love him or let him on their laps. It's so sad. He sits at your feet waiting for you to say, C'mon up and no one will. Even Tesh won't lie down with him.
Pariah cat.
