Hello Everyone, Happy New Year. I don't have any really grand story about bringing in the New Year, like I did last year. We had a very low keyed celebration. One of the things that the group of us that had gathered to bring in the New Year did was reflect upon the scripture about encouraging one another daily. So as a group we all shared one way we would like to encourage others. The person in need of that encouragement did not need to be with us celebrating the New Year. Michael, my 10 year old, who like his dad, is a person of few words. It is difficult to know what Michael is thinking. I often encourage him to talk with me. Last night, I was deeply touched and at the same time saddened by the people he wanted to encourage. As he spoke these words...I knew how deeply he thinks about what is going on around him. He said..."I would like to encourage Doctor's to find a cure for Diabetes" I reached over and gave his hand a gentle squeeze. I looked over, with raised eyebrows at my husband, (for those of you that don't know, my husband is a diabetic.)

In the coming year, please remember to encourage those around you to achieve and reward them for a job well done. A kind word goes a long way to making life's burdens a little lighter!!

Happy Parenting in the year 2001,

Jane
