Do you realize how many AM radio stations that are licensed to operate, do not do so.. And are considered "Dark". The Gateway owners can continue to transmit link data to the LEO's.. And they are "using the spectrum".. The thing I think you need to understand is that this complex web of Space/ Ground regulatory approvals, Gateway ownership, etc.. Are that way BY DESIGN.. This is not some "Whooops... We Goofed".. It is this way for a purpose!! The system is Valueless unless all the pieces are put together!! That is why Motorola had such control over the Iridium Bankruptcy.. Because the pieces of the system that Iridium LLC. owned were "Worthless" without all the other segments.. IPR etc.. Motorola created a similar scenario with Iridium in Bankruptcy.. Even everyone here was under the perception that Iridium was Worthless.. It appears that the Iridium Bondholders and Bankruptcy Judge, finally decided the same.. Yet, in the end.. When the correct suitor came along.. (That Motorola can control). All the pieces came back together.. Now Iridium has great value!! PCSTEL
