On the slavery discussion I believe slavery existed as an economic situation and liberal minded sophist's used whatever moral authority they could sell to sell this evil at it's core activity to the materially comfortable and spiritually somewhat discomforted. This is similar to Democrat leaders selling Bill the impeached rapist to the American people. When it's business and you have no inner morality you say what you have to say to maintain the material advantage. When it's Bill Clinton and by his example the entire Democrat Party, you say what you have to say to keep Bill.
