hi pw,

re, "Segregating a swap file to its own partition has the attraction of allowing it to expand and contract without concern for keeping off the toes of other data, since one can usually dance faster in an empty room"

loved your dance analogy.

thanks for an informative and well thought out post, if i may say so. <g3> "embracing and subsequently rejecting many opinions" is the very definition of a healthy life, not to mention a road map for a successful thread!

:)

I set the minimum swap file size to the maximum size Windows would select during my typical work session.my swap file has no upper limit

I did that very same thing after reading the tip from Fred Langa's newsletter a while back and found my resources gaining about 15 -20 points with the same amount of programs and windows open.

PW,

How would I adjust my maximum swapfile size? Sounds like a useful tweak.

best,
