My gas bill came today and it was more than double for the same period last year. But I had used twice as much gas. The high prices have hardly begun to kick in yet. By the time they do, I think it will be too late this winter for much conservation.

Now eventually the gas shortage will be relieved, but it's hard to see how that can happen for 2-3 years without rationing. I think people are looking at the far out future contracts and assuming that they are a real estimate of futuire prices. I think they will be a good bit higher.

And I don't think that any of the natural gas plays have begun to reflect the very real shortage. Higher, yes, but much too low, the bottom having been put in on the assumption that gas was less than $2.00.
