I watched the whole thing. As I think about it, it was a graphic put up by CNBC as a lead into the story.

The SDMC devices need a suitable network to run on. These have been painfully slow implementations. I expect this to pick up in 2001. There should also be some seeding of the networks with 1x-enabled devices on the CDMA side, though I'm not sure a removable flash card would be included during this stage. This is Sprint PCS's plan. I'm not as familiar with Europe's early plans.
