Happy New Millenium everybody! I was a little surprised to see no messages posted here since the last Millenium. Maybe everybody has sold their NXTL to take advantage of the great deal offered on the Nextel bonds?

I understand the 10-year senior notes will yield 9.5 percent, or 4.33 percentage points more than similar maturity U.S. Treasuries. Wow! What silly fool would buy U.S. Treasuries when these bonds will (hopefully) pay almost twice the amount?

Anyway, what's all the money needed for? I thought Nextel bowed out of the recent spectrum auctions early without spending a penny, already had enough spectrum to meet their four-year business plan. Hmmmmmm....
