Frederick, I agree. Ego is one thing. Paranoia is another. Interesting to see how one nation build up their military power and threaten others before others are big enough to threaten them. I can imagine if one nation destroys others, they would use excuses.... like saying,
"ooops, it is a mistake!!"
"you didn't follow our rules!!"
"you are simply wrong!!"

When you speak of Egos, you are speaking on a personal level, I assume. I also think it is a stretch to relate Egos to Black Holes, which involve physical properties.

If you define a Nation-state as a collective Ego, that is another matter and one fraught with danger, IMO.

I am not a psychologist and am not qualified to discuss it, but your definition does not seem to take into account unselfish behavior, which is all around us.
