The industry analysts do not accept that Qualcomm has wCDMA royalties locked up. I've been communicating with one of them. The proof is in those contracts. Mebbe we oughta just shoot the lock off.

"....'it is absolutely false that they are paying royalties to Qualcomm for UMTS,' Woo said."

Draw, varmint!

Actually, this comes back to the question of the point at which royalties are due. No system is in commercial operation. Test systems have not, apparently, reached a stage of royalties due or we would be in court. I can't tell if Woo is playing games or is truly ignorant. All in all, it reminds me of Ericy on the courthouse steps.

Eric - "One thing that concerns me is that in order for CDG to gain admittance to 3GPP (which I consider VERY important to the future of 1xEV), the approval of the existing MRP's is needed. One of the MRP's is the UWCC."

A cursory site search provided no details on 3GPP admission procedure.

Do you know if the process involves a majority vote, or is unanimity amongst MRP's required?

Perhaps verbatim clarity regarding an earlier statement is material. From Nov.00 3GPP2 Steering Committee Meeting Summary:

page 5:

"The CDG application to become a 3GPP MRP is still pending."
