But, I am running windows 95. Have heard that more than 128mb does not help much with windows 95. Is that right?

I have never heard about this memory limitation of Windows 95 before. To the best of my knowledge you can use more than 128 megabytes of memory with Windows 95 and Windows 95 will make use of additional memory if more than 128 megabytes is available.
