The SP model was adopted to leverage off the strengths of each of the partners. Q = CDMA and phone design. Loral = space system. SPs = regulatory approvals, pricing, marketing, billing and sales. Who has fallen flat on their face in regards to their responsibility?? SPs. Yes they have a web site, and a sales staff, and a marketing dept. but no resources, no integration with the cell phone business of Verizon, or Vodaphone, etc. and not much creativity or initiative. The effort reminds me of a Junior Achievement project run by high schoolers instead of a $4B + business initiative. This is why our beloved G* is about to get flushed down the toilet. I don't fault Bernie for this disaster. His only mistake was overoptimism and disregard for investment community. But the stock is where it is because sales suck and sales suck because pricing and marketing sucks. Replacing Bernie does not solve the problem. If Irwin and co. want to do something helpful (and they have been very helpful with data, etc. etc.) they could get Condor approved by DOD or enlist Wingcast as a partner. There, off my soap box.
