I had those expressions myself, as my parents, uncles, aunts and so forth were from Ireland. It wasn't until High School, College that my speech became more American. Even now as soon as I step off the airplane in Shannon I revert to the old idioms, not on purpose of course. It just flows out somehow. It took a few trips before my wife became accustomed to it. She used to think I was mocking their dialect.

The tourney isn't a tourney. It's a pool. There are 100 spots n the pool, each spot costs $100 so there is $10,000 in it. I'm certain people trust me (after all, I have the money) but I want to draw the numbers for the pool in front of someone so there is no question that the pool is honest.

It pays starting with the first football game, so I have an hour to decide what to do.

See you later, bundle up if you are going out. Best idea is to stay in, actually, if you have the weather we have over here.
