DRBES:

Wrt AMD one has much more reason to be optimistic now, based upon fundamental company strengths, than one year ago when AMD traded at split adjusted price of $14...In the past year its competitors weaknesses have been exposed and Athy's strengths have been displayed...Recently, oil has backed off to $25 a barrel and the fed is poised to ease...In the upcoming year, Athy's relative strengths are about to be capitalized upon with increasing Athy demand in the PC sector and evolutionary Athy intros in the mobile, server and workstation sectors...Oh and also, one will recall that $14 ($28 pre-split) was a major breakout point one year ago...

I'm really looking forward to comparative AMD/INTC Q4 earnings on the 16th...Won't surprise me if AMD posts much better results than the market at $14 is anticipating, and assuming market forces stabilize or brighten between now and the 16th, it won't surprise me to see a significant AMD "price pop" on the 17th, not dissimilar to the one on November 11 '99, when AMD jumped from $22 to $28...

Just no reason, based upon fundamentals, even in this gloomy environment for AMD to be one penny under $40...Major compression in place to support a major pop in price, imho!!!

"Irrational Exuberance"

I know you know this better than me DRBES, but without corporate wins or the PC sector taking off, what would drive AMD above $20 a share? The WSJ article from this week and Intel's share price seems to indicate that Intel is willing to give OEMs whatever it takes to keep AMD out of the corporate space.

Intel is just too powerful. If they want to keep AMD out and are willing to take the financial hit they will succeed. They have always done a good job of avoiding problems with the government on anti-trust and I don't know why now would be any different.

I'm encouraged by the fact that Paul still holds his AMD stock.

Regards,

Jeff
