Charlie ... Happy New Year ... in the last couple of minutes, we have started to receive the first serious snow from a major storm that promises 12-20" with heavy northeast wind ... first major snow storm here (35 miles north northeast of Boston) in several years ...

... a glass of 'The Famous Grouse' with lots of ice & very little water ... a crackling oak wood fire in the fireplace ... the company of my bride Jan - of 36 years today ...

Shorting is quite risky, however this "rebound" won't be the classic short squeeze because there is still a 50/50 chance that earnings will be so adversely effected by the slowdown in IT purchasing that one doesn't know clearly if one direction is better than the other.

I stand by my prediction of a very slow recovery in tech stocks with no more than 3,000 on the NASDAQ by December 30, 2001.
