Welcome to the George Bush Era.

"The US should help in terms of diplomacy but should also charge them a fee for such services rendered, NOT GIVE AWAY OUR TAX MONEY TO SUPPORT ONE SIDES CAUSE AND ONLY HOPE THEY WILL BE NICE TO EACH OTHER AS A RETURN!!!"

More brilliant than 1,000 Suns.

Is there any proof they couldn't over a period of time live in harmony with each other?

Yes, two thousand years of proof. And if you make a mistake, you don't get a second chance. There is intense hatred in the area, on both sides, and probably more on the Palestinian side, who are taught that the Israeli Jews are European interlopers who must be pushed into the sea. You can search out the many Arabic "education" websites that say this, and far, far worse (i.e., there was no Holocaust, Jews bake gentile blood into Passover matzoh, Jews invented AIDS, Jews contol the world through masonic lodges and illuminati conspiracies, etc., etc,). The Israelis do not sponsor eqivalent websites calling for the death or expulsion of the Palestinians.

I sincerely believe the adage that if the palestinians were to lay down their arms, nothing would happen; if the Israelis would, we would see a blood bath rivaling the Holocaust.

Heck, even the Irish haven't been able to get along across religious lines, and there's far less that divides them.

I don't understand your point regarding Israeli mistreatment. The only people killing US servicemen that I see are originating in the Arab world, while Israel maintains an open democracy, the only one in the region.

"I can assure you that if our government dried up free foreign aid to Israel they would forget all past handouts and treat us worse than common criminals, nevertheless it's time the US took a neutral position!!!!"

Given the choice between being neutral and being preferential to the ONLY liberal democracy in the entire region, I'll take supporting Israel.
