You may be assuming the average earnings estimate will hold.

There are many analysts who haven't revised their earnings estimates. I find it hard to believe these analysts are ignoring recent economic slowing and the warnings from many technology companies.

Market has lost perspective on both ends. Add the 115 high for 2000 to the 34 low and divide by 2 gives me a 74.5 target for this year. Now thats a 10% gain for the year according to the "crack" analysts or is it perhaps the "analysts on crack" who give us this fuzzy math.
