Alaska has a high incidence of alcoholism, owing to isolation, short winter day length, lack of resistance in certain groups and probably a host of other factors. I am not that close to the problem, but I'm told many of the crimes that put people in Lemon Creek emanated out of their inability to deal with alcohol. There's a tank for drunks to dry out in; they don't go to the Lemon Creek penitentiary unless they've committed a crime.
