Hmm.

-Mobile telephony is perhaps major, and successful in commercial terms.
-Genome sciences (ie the deciphering of human genomes) perhaps an achievement as big as the net, though commercially not meaningful, so far.

25 years? why am I limited to 25 years ?? all the really good ones happend in the last 150-200 years, The Biggies.

( who invented the internet??? do really have a name , a person,,,etc ??? )

The internet is not even an invention...it is a mutatation of an existing technology, It is the taking of this technology one step further..the phone line...we all could talk on the phone before, even do huge conference calls long before the net..now we can all type on it and see each othersimultaneously ...

The phone was by far a much bigger Invention, The gas powered motor was bigger than the car..but we all see the car as the invention... and on and on.

Sorry I fail to see any hugeness about that.

Its neat and all but ceratinly not MAJOR by definition,,its just new to us cause we didnt have it 10 years ago.....

I think those battery cars are actually the closest thing to being a world aletring invention.
