I generally agree with the article. I would add that P4's poor performance is masked to a large degree by a very high cost, high bandwidth platform. Moving P4 to a cheaper solution would expose more performance bottlenecks.

I am sure the old timer folks in this business can easily quote a dozen similar articles published in the past, all of which coming to the same conclusion.
