Well I haven't pried a lot out of my ISP guru yet,
but my understanding is that I will become part
of his network; and as soon as my set is turned on his
station sees my IP address ( which is no longer
dynamic and is assigned to me by him as a permanent IP
number ) taht alone has some big advantages as even
without a registered name I become as a part of the
web and can set up my own server, all you would need is my
number to access it.
The bandwidth is scaleable by him but I'm guaranteed
more than 100 times what DSL can give.
Right now he wants $60 a month and a year
contract for a hook up but sees the price coming
down as he gets more people on board and will
adjust the price down with a 10% discount to
the first 100 sign ups.
He has a T1 line into his place and my connection
to the net will look seamless like (if I install server
software your computer could see mine just like
it can see SI , all you would need is my IP number.
If I keep my set on I can act just like an ISP towards
other computers who can network to me.
-------------
What he saves is the 100 phone line trunk he now has
to have for modems, ( It cost him 4 times as much for
them as the T1 line does ) so he is expecting his
fee to drop dramatically as soon as he recovers his
investment in the new stuff, If I buy my end of the
package he will drop my fee to $40 to start with.
Package cost ( transceiver and software ) is $250
He's still in the testing stage , and I'm waiting
make sure it does what he says it will.
Jim

The brand he is using is WaveAccess,
I'm most sure it's by Lucent, I know the
little transcevers are made by them.
