I have seen you disguise your feeling here on SI. There have been people that you know to be scummy touts that you've treated with kindness and respect. Perhaps that is not a disguise for you, but I see it that way because for me it would have to be non-genuine.
To not be respectful of people you have zero respect for is to be honest, not close minded. Not everyone deserves respect, many deserve disrespect. Perhaps, as i've said I would do, it is more productive to just ignore these people rather than give them the disrespect I think they deserve.
As far as being close minded, it again goes back to having the time. If you are in a money room, ankle deep in money, and there is $100 bills there, and there are pennies, and you have a minute to grab all you can, which do you go for?
Same is true here on SI and in the market. If I know 100 turd worshippers, there might be one of them that if I don't piss off, and treat with respect that they don't deserve, will have a good idea someday that they might share, but dizzamm I don't have the time or the stomach to do that. I could spend the same time watching a few great traders here, and treat them with the respect they do deserve, and i'm far ahead, financially, morally, etc.
As for children, anyone that gets a kick out of destroying a childs self-esteem, creativity, sense of hope, etc. is one of the lower of low lifes. Children should always be encouraged. However, we're not talking about children, we're talking about SI posters which are supposed to be grownups. Grownups should be grownup enough to handle getting their feelings hurt, and also to deal productively with being proved wrong about their investments. I see little of that.
So you can be kind and respectful to all, and I will continue to be a crusty curmudgeon to touters, turd worshippers, holier than thous, and whatever else, and I will treat with respect and kindness, those that I think deserve it, I and only I, not the rest of the posters here.
One other thing, if you really do like someone and treat them nice, how do they know you're being genuine, when they might say to themselves, hmm, i've seen him be the exact same way towards nice people and real scumbags, maybe he thinks i'm nice, maybe he thinks i'm a scumbag.
Kindness means nothing if you bestow it upon everyone. Say you're a preacher and give the sermon, then stand outside the church and everyone walks out and says great sermon preacher. Well big whoop. Now say one person says to the preacher, I didn't like that one, and here's why. Next week that fella tells the preacher, hey this weeks sermon was good. Which do you think the preacher remembers, the many that say what society says to say, or the one that says what he truly believes?
