While the second part of your statement is very true, I
disagree that nothing has changed since 1999. In 1999
there were great expectations that the platform design
team is of the same class as the CPU team, and will
deliver. This did not happen. Elmer is suspiciously
quiet these days about talent abandoning AMD ship,
so there must be going something :) I have serious doubts
that the LDT will see the markets if the
same engineering and management practices will
continue at AMD's platform engineering. Sorry.
